Jeff was born and raised in San Francisco. He first picked up a bass
guitar before high school and has played a wide variety of music, from
early R&B, hard rock, jazz, soft rock, blues, and funk.
Influences include the Motown Funk Brothers, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi
Hendrix, jazz bassist Ray Brown, Stanley Clark, and Jaco Pastorius. The
San Francisco venues like Fillmore West, and Winterland were regular hang outs
for Jeff and his best friend, a drummer.
Jeff believes the function of the bass is to hold the groove and to make sure
the heads are bopping, the feet are tapping, and the booties are shaking.
The challenge is to stay in tune with the whole band, but, specially with the
drummer. When bass and drums are in sync, it is a beautiful thing.
When you see the band, you will be able to recognize Jeff by the huge smile
plastered on his face. He says his cheeks often hurt after playing from
all that smiling. To sum it up, his love of playing music is written all
over his face!
